I am an artist working and living in Saint Louis, Missouri where I received both my BFA and MFA from Fontbonne University. Now as an instructor of drawing at Webster University in Saint Louis I introduce my students to many of the same concepts and principles that I learned as a student. For me it's all in the eyes, it's observation, looking at relationships between forms, within the forms themselves and the relationship of forms to the space around the forms. It's observation based on understanding, how can we describe what we observe with marks if we don't understand what we are observing. Observation and relationships these I believe are the principles of successful perceptual drawing.
